Position Summary:
The Manager, Estimator oversees all functions of the Estimating divisions and ensures the proper delegation and fulfillment of duties and responsibilities for all personnel within the department. Based out of our Edmonton office this salaried position will report directly to the Director.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

-Manage and administer department functions
-Provide guidance and technical assistance to staff
-Effectively determine the bid strategies required for the company to be successful
-Review all pre-qualifications that are submitted to clients to ensure that the companies are accurately represented in order to compete on bids
-Examine all customer documents to ensure technical capabilities can be met
-Calculate the quantity of take-offs, detailing all materials and supplies necessary to achieve specification
-Review and approve all bid packages before submission to client
-Participate in client and management presentations
-Perform site visits and investigations and constructability reviews
-Handle project close-outs including cost reporting, historical data, and final acceptance of projects
-Lead weekly departmental meetings and participate in managers and executive meetings
-Manage departmental budget to ensure all projected operating costs are captured
Manage the estimating staff including performance reviews and training

Role Specifications:

Education & Training:

-Minimum 7 – 10 years of relevant experience
-Journeyman Electrician Ticket, Certified Electrical Technologist Diploma, or Electrical Engineering degree required
-High School Diploma or equivalent
-CSTS, OSSA, WHMIS and Fall Protection may be required to access work sites (in-house training available)

Knowledge/Skill and Abilities:

-Experience with pricing tools and spreadsheets
-Versed in the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel) along with Accubid software or equivalent
-Able to read and understand work orders, instructions, detailed forms, detailed operating and procedure manuals and case histories
-Able to read and understand technical manuals such as, request for proposals (RFPs), forms of bid, pre-qualifications, blueprints, schedules, and contracts.
-Possesses effective communication and interpersonal skills allow you to clearly and concisely present information to clients, peers and field personnel
-Strong time management and organization skills allow you to meet multiple deadlines
-Knowledge of IBEW Collective Agreement would be an asset
