As a Team Lead, Health, Safety and Environment, you are acting as a resource for employees and management groups in Fort McMurray. You are responsible for oversight to support field based operations related to the implementation and promotion of the loss prevention strategies. Based out of our Fort McMurray location, this position will report directly to a Manager of HSE supporting the client sites.
|Key Duties and Responsibilities:|
·Oversee daily responsibilities of field based safety advisors
· Provide leadership and vision for future growth and development by ensuring employees are informed, aligned and accountable
·Provide technical expertise and guidance to the Manager of HSE, operations staff and senior management in the areas of: health and safety performance, site inspections, behavior based observations, hazard assessment and risk management and incident investigation
·Ensure adherence to all company health, safety and environmental standards, policies and procedures while maintaining on-going knowledge of local, provincial and federal guidelines
·Provide technical expertise in incident investigations and root cause analysis
·Present at safety meetings and support operational leaders with safety related presentations
Education & Training
·Formal education in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) such as a certificate, diploma or associated degree
·National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) status
·Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or Certified Safety Professional designation (CSP) achieved or in progress
·Training with the Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB)
·Business or Technical degree or an equivalent combination of education, work experience, and training required
·Familiarity with the Oil & Gas Industry; preferably within Industrial Services & Maintenance is an asset
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
·5 to 7 years of experience in Health and Safety
·1 to 3 years of experience in a diverse leadership role
·Strong understanding of health and safety regulatory requirements
·Versed in the MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel)
·CSTS, OSSA, WHMIS, and Fall Protection are required to access work sites
·Proven ability to initiate action and drive team to success
·Effective communication and interpersonal skills allow you to clearly and concisely present information to clients, peers and field personnel
·Your strong negotiation skills and ability to influence others allow you to gain commitment
·Required to frequently visit various industrial plant sites throughout Fort McMurray
