Position Summary:
CEDA International is currently seeking a self-motivated, responsible Learning & Development Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for effective design, delivery and evaluation of HSE and technical competency training for employees within CEDA International to maintain compliance to safety practices and operational standards. This position acts as a resource to leaders and field staff on HSE and technical competency matters. The successful candidates must possess an uncompromising commitment to health and safety, a strong mechanical aptitude and work related experience. This salary based position will report directly to the Team Lead of Learning & Development.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Specialist functions as part of a multidisciplinary team environment and supports other roles and members of the department. This role must ensure clear, consistent communication with all members of the Learning and Development team and receives moderate supervision.

New Hire Orientation:
- Setup/facilitate new hire orientation(s) to individuals hired to work for CEDA
- Prepare course materials, training facility and training aids in advance
- Ensure the accurate and on-time delivery of CEDA orientation(s) using digital presentations, physical demonstrations and group lead activities
- Gather and enter training data to in-house Learning Management System including previous safety certifications
- Continuous improvement of course content – timely revisions, relevant working examples etc

Competency and HSE Training:
- Facilitate health and safety courses such as Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, and H2S Alive
- Perform hands-on equipment training such as Forklift, Overhead Crane and Elevated Work Platform, Trucks
- Perform hands-on equipment training for Pressure & Vacuum equipment and specialty tools and equipment
- Maintain/update HSE requirements for training

Course Development :
- Analyze the learning and development needs of employees by partnering with management and field staff
- Design and develop technical paper-based course materials including instructor and student guides, job aids, exercises and evaluations for instructor-led and on-the-job instructional environments
- Revise and ensure continuous improvement of core training materials student manuals, instructor manuals and PowerPoint presentations
- Create interactive and engaging learning experiences within existing courses and when developing new curriculum

Training Data Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date instructor files
- Ensure employee training records are accurate and retained for future reference
- Assist other members of the team with regards to training data management as outlined above as required

Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ Years’ experience in Competency or HSE training in a classroom environment
- Computer proficiency – Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint etc.)
- Strong communication skills, including writing for diverse audiences, backgrounds and educational levels, as well as effective presentation skills
- 5 years working field experience in an oil and gas, industrial or related environment
- Demonstrate a clear passion for training
- Able to champion all aspects of safety and contribute to the strong CEDA safety culture
- Class 5 license (class 1 or 3 preferred) with clean abstract;

Ideal Candidate:
- Completed adult education/Instructional techniques training
- 3+ Years of HSE Industry experience with NCSO, and/or OH&S certification completed or underway (an asset)
- Certified (or qualified to be certified) to deliver safety courses such as Fall Protection, WHIMS and TDG, Confined Space, H2S Alive, First Aid, Elevated Work Platform, Forklift, Overhead Crane
- Experienced in full-cycle curriculum design
- Working knowledge of OSSA standards and policies
- Work well under pressure,
- Flexible, creative and enthusiastic in training others
