CEDA Creates Specialty Mechanical Business Unit

CALGARY, ALBERTA—CEDA International Corporation (CEDA) is pleased to announce the formation of a new business unit named CEDA Specialty Mechanical Services (CSMS).

“In order to maximize the potential and strength of our mechanical business we have created a distinct group through which all of our turnaround and maintenance mechanical services will be operated,” explains Bruce Rintoul, President and CEO of CEDA. “The new business entity will provide our clients with a range of unionized mechanical services.”

CSMS will assist clients involved in maintenance, turnaround and construction projects throughout Canada and operate as a full service mechanical contractor with due regard to safety, quality, cost and schedule. CSMS will function as a group of unionized contractors and employs 200 full-time employees across Canada.

CSMS will provide comprehensive project management services including constructability reviews, planning and scheduling, budget preparation, subcontractor management, project startup and commissioning and procurement. CSMS mechanical services include structural and piping, fabrication, machining and joint integrity, torquing and tensioning, insulation including removable cover fabrication and electrical installation and maintenance.

Blair Tomkinson has been appointed Vice President of CSMS and is responsible for its strategic planning, growth and operations.  Blair joins CEDA with significant business and operating experience in the industrial construction and turnaround market sectors. Most recently, he held senior management positions with Kiewit and PCL Construction (formerly Melloy & Associates).
