EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT)
Our technicians are well trained and have been responding to all nine classes of dangerous goods incidents since 1988. We perform more than 400 responses per year and are well equipped to handle any incident in a safe and professional manner.
Major response centers with dedicated personnel and equipment are in Edmonton, Alberta and Vancouver, British Columbia. Outside of western Canada, CERT offers wider coverage through a joint venture arrangement with other response partners.
CEDA’s CERT is a licensed distributor for several items that are used in emergency responses. For example, protective clothing from Lakeland Chemical is available
and can be shipped out the same day the order is placed. For incidents that require an absorbent material, CERT carries Sphag-Sorb*, an activated peat moss material. Other items available for sale are polypropylene absorbent pads, spill containment
boom, and 'plug and dike'.
Hazardous materials training courses available are:
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
- Chemical Awareness for the Hazmat Responder.
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 472 Awareness Level.
- Air Pack Training.
- Respirator Fit Testing.
* Sphag-Sorb is a trademark of Earth Care Products, a division of Bay Market Development Inc.
