FOAM CLEANING

To remove unwanted fouling deposits that impede heat transfer and lower operating efficiency, CEDA has utilized a foaming system to chemically clean certain types of process equipment. In many cases, detergent foam provides an inexpensive, safe and effective means of removing surface oils, dust and dirt from process equipment.

However, depending on the equipment metallurgy and the type of unwanted deposit, a more aggressive chemical cleaning system may be required.

CEDA’s foaming system safely and effectively foams acidic and alkaline cleaning solutions, facilitating the removal of tenacious scales such as mineral deposits, corrosion products and/or oxidation.

Treatment of Aerial Coolers is a primary area of application for CEDA’s foaming system. Experience has shown that consistent, stable and controllable foam structures clean more quickly than conventional cleaning with high pressure water or blowing with compressed air.

CEDA’s foam cleaning service operates at low pressures, and is safe for technicians to handle, while minimizing onsite chemical requirements, and the volume of post cleaning waste for disposal. In some cases, foam cleaning may be performed while operations are online, requiring no shutdown time, cost or scheduling difficulties.

Some of the key benefits of CEDA’s foaming system are:

  • Increases operating efficiency immediately without upsetting normal plant operations and allows for real-time verification of results achieved.
  • Maximizes chemical contact without removing tube sheets from the process.
  • No damage to aerial cooler fins, as in unregulated air blows or high-pressure water jetting applications.
  • Reduces costs of post cleaning waste disposal, reduces overall chemical costs and minimizes potential for personnel exposure.
