HOT TAPPING

Hot tapping is a method of accessing or cutting a hole into live/pressurized pipelines, process lines, water lines, and tanks for the purpose of adding a line or connection without shutting the service down or interrupting the process flow. A hot tap requires a “hot tap fitting” or tie-in point to be welded into place so that the hot tap equipment can be operated. This procedure allows you to save precious time and reduce costly down time in production and start-up costs.

Hot taps can be performed on various systems containing oil, gas, water, process products, steam and various other products.

Our current inventory of hot tap equipment allows us to perform hot taps from 1/2 in. to 10 in., at pressures up to 700 psi and operating temperatures up to 700°F.

CEDA also provides in-house engineering for fabrication of custom “bolt-on hot tap fittings."

TEMPORARY TAPPING BOLT-ON FITTING RENTALS

CEDA provides temporary bolt-on fittings that are designed for multiple uses. The fittings can be hydro-tested in the field to confirm a positive seal, as well as allowing seal replacement and eliminating costly down time between temporary taps.

This method is cost effective and the advantages of these bolt-on fittings are used in cases where weld-on fittings cannot be used.

Multiple uses include:

  • Line reclamation
  • Line drain
  • Pressure relieving
  • Any situation where tapping a line is necessary, but not permanent

Available at this time are:
3” 4” 6” 8” 10” and 12”
(Larger sizes are available upon request)

Designed up to 1,440 PSI clamp-on temporary bolt-on fittings with 2” full port valve tapping capability.

Bolt-on fittings come with Buna or Viton seals for sour service, at customer’s request.

CEDA provides qualified technicians to install and remove fittings, as well as supply all your hot tap service requirements.
